Abstract

To improve the safety properties of HMX-based polymerbonded explosive, the influence of the particle size of high quality HMX on theshock sensitivity of PBX was studied by a Gap Test. The results show that theshock sensitivity of the HMX-based pressed PBX with high relative density of98.5% TMD decreases by 7% when high quality PBX(particle size 20μm)replacing normal HMX(particle size 30μm),andthe shock sensitivity decreases by 13% when particle size of high quality HMXincreases to 150μm. The shock sensitivity decreases by24% with the relative density increase by 0.9%.
