Footprint Calculation for Hypersonic Glide Vehicle

Abstract

In order to solve the relavent problems of the reentry mission planning,the basic flow chart for calculating the footprint by optimization algorithm was given.A method based on trajectory optimization was presented.The footprint of the hypersonic vehicle was obtained by calculating a series of optimal trajectories under appropriate cost function and trajectory constraint.A method based on trajectory tracking was presented for the sake of obtaining the footprint quickly,and it created a reentry corridors in height vs velocity profile to meet the path constraints and obtain the whole footprint.The results show that both methods can accomplish the footprint calculation.The method based on trajectory optimization can obtain more accurate footprint; the method based on trajectory tracking has faster compute speed.The two methods can meet the calculation requirements under different conditions separately.
