Abstract

Machining system stability is one of the important problems in the machining process. It in?fluences the machining quality, its productivity, the tool life and the life of the machine tool. Stability of the machining system becomes more significant in precision and ultra-precision machining of workpieces of weak rigidity. Based on the principle of ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting, a dynamic thrust cutting force in ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting was analyzed, and the force model with positive and negative pulsa?tion was proposed. From the machining dynamics, influence of elliptical vibration cutting on the machining system stability was analyzed. Finally, It is verified experimentally that the ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting can improve the machining system stability.
