Abstract

By means of an analysis for the mechanism of thermal decomposition of polydimethylsiloxane elastomers, three methods of improving the ablative performance of the two-component room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone rubber for the inhi?bition of solid rocket propellants are proposed. Using the RTV-K silicone rubber devel?oped in the Institute, effect of four kinds of fillers on the linear ablation rate of the sili?cone rubber has been investigated and the reason why white carbon black tends to in?crease the linear ablation rate discussed.
