Abstract

Critical condition of change in two side-direction burr formation is studied. The results show that burr morphology depends on the shear strain on the chip during orthogonal cutting. Three types of burr morphology (type I — Ⅲ ) can result, depending upon the value of ε. Rules governing critical transformation and the burr overlap in its size have been found out. Means and techniques to diminish the burr size are given.
