Abstract

The dynamic properties of three steels D60, 58SiMn and No. 45 are systematically studied at high strain rate by using a well-designed SHTB equipment. The experimental results show that the dynamic yield stress and tensile elogation of all tested materials are higher than their static values, respectively. However, different materials indicate different strain- rate sensitivity. In addition, the dynamic process of damage evolution is studied in detail with the metallographic technique for observing the cross and logitudinal sections of the tested specimen.
